Description
With the Explanar Putting Mat, you groove a consistent putting stroke and enhance your ability to control speed and distance in your own home.
The EXPLANAR PUTTING MAT has a luxurious “velour” surface, with a thick rubber backing, that “Stimps” at 10.5 ft. When laid out on flat, hard flooring, it gives a true and realistic roll of the ball.
Designed by Master P.G.A. Professional, Luther Blacklock, the unique markings are designed to prevent putts that are “pushed” or “pulled”. Luther believes you must learn first the skill of alignment to build a mechanically sound and repetitive putting stroke.
HOW & WHY THE EXPLANAR PUTTING MAT WORKS.
By rolling the ball along the central orange stripe, which is a ball’s width, you learn how to aim the putter face correctly and align your body parallel to the line. The black stripes running either side of the orange stripe represent the 4 ¼” width of the hole.
The silver-grey triangle narrows your focus dramatically, by preventing distraction and heightening your awareness of the target. The red spots along the left and right edges of the silver-grey triangle teach you to aim across the central line. Putting down the left edge, the hole will feel in front of you (for the Right-hander).
Conversely, putting along the right edge of the silver-grey triangle will give you a sense of the hole being a touch behind you. Here is one of the key features of the EXPLANAR PUTTING MAT –
- If you are prone to “Pulling” your putts to the left, try putting down the Left edge of the silver-grey triangle.
- If you tend to “Push” your putts to the right, try putting down the Right edge of the silver-grey triangle.
- Now mix it up, by putting along the orange stripe and then down the edges of the silver-grey triangle.
- These drills will help you aim the putter face along your intended line – your eyes will be less likely to distort your perception on “Left to Right and “Right to Left putts. In turn, these exercises will help you aim correctly on “Straight” putts.
Using the EXPLANAR PUTTING MAT, as Luther prescribes, will teach you to develop a mechanically sound putting stroke with minimal conscious “technical” thought. Follow these simple steps:
- Aim the Putter Face at 90 degrees to your intended line.
- Ensure Putter Face is dead centre, between your feet (NOT the Ball)
- Learn to “Roll” the ball “End over End” – this leads to the following:
- Smooth Acceleration,”
- Neat Backswing,
- Measured, deliberate Backswing,
- Putter face tracks “In – Square – In”.
- A “Rolling” ball holds its line.
- Your body computes pace on the assumption of a “Rolling” ball.
The EXPLANAR PUTTING MAT will lead you to your best stroke – leaving your mind clear to roll the ball into the hole!
