Creating an ideal home short game area for serious practice – Golf4Home were approached by a family in Essex with a special request: to transform their underused children’s play area into a premium short game facility for their daughter, a talented young golfer competing on the international stage. The family wanted a space that would not only support elite-level practice, but also serve as a beautiful, relaxing retreat for the whole family.
The Vision
To create a World-Class short game area the whole family can enjoy. Understanding the importance of high-performance training in a serene, inspiring environment, our team set out to create a space that combined professional-level functionality with aesthetic charm. The countryside surroundings were the perfect canvas — a naturally calming backdrop that enhances focus and enjoyment.
The Build
The project covered 225 square meters and was designed to maximise both practice versatility and visual appeal. Key features included:
- Tour-Level Putting Green: A meticulously contoured surface built for speed and precision, allowing realistic practice conditions for putts of varying lengths and breaks.
- Bunker Practice Zone: A custom-shaped practice bunker replicating on-course challenges, ideal for sharpening greenside sand skills.
- Practice Net Area: A designated space for swing training with a net system — perfect for warm-ups, drills, and full swings with any club.
- Relaxation Area: A thoughtfully integrated space with seating and soft landscaping, offering the family a place to unwind and enjoy the view.
The Outcome
The end result was a stunning transformation. Where once stood swings and climbing frames, now lies a professional-grade short game facility nestled in the heart of the Essex countryside. The daughter now has the perfect training ground just steps from her back door, supporting her preparation for tournaments around the globe.
