Transforming a Challenging Putting Surface into a Smooth, True Practice Facility
When a homeowner near Cannock contacted Golf4Home, they had a beautifully designed home putting green that had originally been installed by another company. However, over time, the customer had become increasingly frustrated with the amount of break across the putting surface.
A significant slope had been incorporated into the original design, creating more movement on the greens than the customer wanted. They approached the Golf4Home team to see whether we could rework the surface and create a smoother, more consistent putting experience.
Stripping Back and Rebuilding the Surface
Our experienced team carefully stripped back the artificial putting grass to expose the aggregate base underneath. This allowed us to assess the existing levels and make the necessary adjustments to reduce the severity of the slope.
The aggregates were then carefully levelled and reshaped to create a more consistent foundation. Once we were satisfied with the new levels, the putting grass was relaid over the prepared surface.
But the work didn’t stop there.
Bringing the Green Back to Life
With the grass back in place, our team carried out a comprehensive restoration of the entire putting surface.
The green was:
- Power brushed to lift and rejuvenate the fibres
- Thoroughly cleaned using a high-powered hose
- Professionally rolled to help create a smooth, consistent surface
- Re-infilled with kiln-dried sand to help support the fibres and produce a true putting surface
- Thoroughly watered to settle everything into place
The surrounding area was then meticulously blown down, removing any remaining debris and leaving the entire practice facility looking pristine.
Restoring the Bunker
As part of the project, the Golf4Home team also restored the existing bunker, bringing it back to its former glory and completing the overall transformation of the practice area.
The result was a refreshed and revitalised home golf facility, with a significantly smoother putting surface and a more enjoyable experience for the homeowner.
